Rougemont

1985-1988
REV. RAYMOND HUTCHINSON

In 1985, Rev. Raymond Hutchinson came from the parish of Arundel to serve Farnham and Rougemont. During his term of office, the former school house and property were sold to Mr. Denis LaFontaine. The money from the sale was to be used for repairs to the church and parsonage.

Repairs were done to the stained glass windows of the church and outside acrylic sheets were installed to protect the windows. A new organ was purchased for the church at a cost of $1,300.00.

The parsonage was completely renovated. Evening services were held during the summer months. The custom of Lenten services in the homes continued.

Rev. Hutchinson and his wife Elizabeth were very active in the activities of the Diocese. Upon leaving this parish, they moved to a parish in Ville Emard.

The bishop paid a social visit to the parish of Rougemont in November of 1988.

ROUGEMONT ASSOCIATED WITH OTTERBURN PARK

1989
REV. TONY HARVEY

Early in 1989, the Bishop announced that there was a possibility of Rougemont associated with the parish of St.Martin's Otterburn. Rev. Tony Harvey was welcomed as our new rector on Feb. 5th 1989.

This meant a change of association from the deanery of Bedford to the South Shore.

Repairs were made to the carriage sheds in the fall of 1989.

Discussion groups were held in the homes during Advent season, a Carol Service was held before Christmas with people attending from Otterburn and the tradition of Lenten meetings was continued. Sunday School for the young children is held during the morning church service.

A planning committee was set up to plan a celebration for the 150th anniversary of St.Thomas' Anglican Church.
