Rougemont

An active Sunday School programme was carried on under the leadership of Mrs. Jessie Standish and Mrs. John Midlane.

Due to illness in 1961, Mr. Edgar Standish resigned as secretary-treasurer. A vote of thanks was extended for his many years of service to the parish.

With the retirement of Rev. Elcombe, the intrim period was filled by Lay Readers and Supply Clergy from Montreal, under the responsability of Archdeacon Lidstone.

1964-1968
REV. W.C DUNN

On July 3rd 1965, St-Thomas’ Church celebrated its 125th Anniversary. Nearly two hundred people attended, including many past parishioners and descendants of the founding families.

The programme started with festal evensong with Bishop Maguire attending. Others taking part in the service were the Rural Dean J. Peacock, Archdeacon F.K Morris, the Rev. P.G Rollit, the Rev. T.E.R Nurse and Canon W.C Dunn. The organist was Mrs. Edgar Standish; wardens were Carl Carden and Ivan Standish.

Following the service, a twenty minute programme of music from the old barrel organ was enjoyed. A reception followed in the school.

The exterior of the church was painted in 1967.

On January 21st 1968, Canon Dunn told the vestry meeting that he intended to retire as of October, due to ill health. A vote of appreciation was expressed to Canon Dunn for his devoted service during his period with the parish.
