Rougemont

INTRODUCTION

Religious services have been held in the Rougemont area for the English speaking community since 1840.

This account of the founding at St.Thomas' Anglican Church wishes to look at the early history of the church and at the origins of the English-speaking families who settled in Rougemont, before the consecration of St.Thomas' Anglacan Church.

It is with pride in the history of the church and of its constant presence in the Rougemont area, that the parishioners of 1990 wish to celebrate its 150 years of existence. The beautiful buildings and grounds speak of the care and interest that the members of the congregation and supporters of St.Thomas' have shown through the years.

Information has been gathered from many sources. Some documents are no longer available but the sources have been researched to the best of our ability. We wish to thank the people who supplied the records, notes and documents which were consulted.

On behalf of the 150th Anniversary Committee of St-Thomas' Anglican Church and with the support of the parishioners, this history is presented in honour of those who have gone before us, to help us reflect on our place in the scheme of things and to record for future generations, this living relationship with our God and eith each others.
